All About Reggie...

Reggie Whitehead is more than a performer.  Did you know that he is a tropical fern expert? Yep, that's right, FERNS.  He even has a fern named after him, Microsorum whiteheadii, a succulent fern he discovered in Sumatra.

Reggie has gone on 17 collecting trips throughout the tropical regions of the world.  He has traveled to Ecuador, Costa Rica, Trinidad, Jamaica, Mexico, Malaysia (including Borneo's Sabah and Sarawak), Thailand and Indonesia.

Reggie is a co-founder of the Tropical Fern & Exotic Plant Society (an international group) that is based in Miami.  In addition to Reggie's plant club, he also belongs to the American Fern Society, the Sarasota Fern Society, The Los Angeles Fern Society and the International Aroid Society. 

In connection with his volunteering duties, Reggie is also a recipient of the Bank of America 2007 Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award
